Kick scooters are becoming more and more popular.

Once the purview of kids, adults are discovering the fun and functionality of the kick scooter.

"I would like to ride one, but I just don't want my friends to see me riding one." Any adult kick-scooter riders heard that one before? If that is the main objection to riding an kick scooter, it is becoming a concern of the past. "Get over it!" says the widely followed Nutnfancy in the "Adventure Xootr" YouTube video which praises all the attributes of riding a Xootr kick scooter.

On a grass roots level, blogs and groups are promoting the fun and benefits of adult kick scooters. The Yahoo Group NYCKickScooters with 201 users prologues the group with "Reduce traffic congestion, protect our environment, save money, stay fit, get where you want to go fast, and have fun riding a kick scooter!".

The members of the Yahoo Group "Xootr Scooters" with over 391 members enthusiastically support the Xootr scooter in over 1600 posts.
The first decade has passed since the introduction of the adult kick scooter. SkootNation projects broad appeal and adoption over the coming decade due in part to the many utilitarian attributes and the ease-of-use of adult kick scooters. SkootNation further believes that this sector is now at an inflection point for "mass adoption". As an interesting comparison, Rollerblade launched the in-line skate industry in the early 1980s. A decade later it took off en masse.
